JOB PLACEMENT AID

Our Goal ~ To support and enhance opportunities for foster youth to secure meaningful employment.

Each year over 25,000 young people emancipate or age-out of the foster care system.  Multiple studies suggest that most children leaving foster care are unprepared to lead independent, successful lives, and that many will be representative of some of our nation's most vulnerable populations - the poor, the homeless, the incarcerated, and the unisured.  The successful transition of foster youth has become an organizational priority for RFCPP.  Ms. Rowell believes that the greatest gift we can give these young adults is the opportunity to be gainfully employed.  Building on the success of a program she envisioned with Viacom/CBS years ago, RFCPP is expanding services for emancipating foster youth.

We are reaching out to more entertainment industry companies including Vivendi-Universal, Paramount, BMG, E! Entertainment, Showtime, and MTV. And we have expanded our reach to corporations such as PacBell, and Toyota Motor Sales to assist in job identification and placement for emancipating youth.  We are also working with organizations such as WorkPlace Hollywood to develop Career Preparation programs for children and youth in foster care and to enahnce thier job seeking skills.

The first job can be the beginning of opportunity and promise for a young adult leaving foster care. RFCPP connects with Corporate Human Resources Directors to secure their commitment to interview our youth for entry-level employment.

Through Victoria's motivational speaking we work with various departments of children's services and job placement programs throughout the United States including the Department of Children and Family Services, America Works for Kids, and The Independent Living Program. Our successful working relationship with these partners quickly identifies the young people who need jobs. This partnership helps to ensure that youth are prepared for entry-level jobs from receptionists to production assistants, grocery store checkers, and hotel clerks.

The management of this growth, coupled with ensuring that each child is ready to work, is no small task but RFCPP is taking on the challenge. We welcome your support.
